Keith Smith retired from Metropolitan Police Service

Keith Smith retired from Metropolitan Police Service on the 31st January 2014 after thirty one years of distinguished service in technology, diversity and Policing BME Communities of London.

The MetBPA pay tribute to one of its founder and great architects of the movement to reform British Policing from ‘the inside out’ with regard to race relations. Keith has been a constant source of inspiration to the MetBPA, who served as treasurer and director of communication for many years and still continues serving on the current executive.

During his time in the police service Keith received nine Commissioner’s and assistant Commissioner’s commendation for outstanding leadership, dedication to duty, display of true professionalism in the delivery of service to the Metropolitan police and the people of London.

Keith was the financial architect of the youth engagement programme over the last 7 years helping to write business case and secure funding for the Voyage programme. He continued the treasurer role for the programme until his retirement.

It is right that the MetBPA pays tribute to our current treasurer and executive member on his retirement from the police service. Keith will continue to serve on the new executive but will stand down on the role of treasurer to allow a new post holder to take on this role.

The Director of Digital Policing presented Keith with a bottle of Champagne and an excellent letter of thanks for the service delivered.

We wish Keith and his family the very best for the new life ahead.
