Londoners are being asked to choose the winner of the bravest act of police work in the capital over the past year.
Four remarkable nominations have been put forward, demonstrating the heroic actions of Met officers who went above and beyond the call of duty to save lives and catch criminals.
The nominations are:
- A team of Southwark officers who bravely entered a three-storey inferno to rescue ten people including a baby, an elderly man and a pregnant woman. None of the officers had any fire safety kit when they went in.
- Two Islington officers who grabbed a man wearing a suspected suicide vest. The suspect was also reported to be armed with a large weapon and shouting wildly.
- A Taskforce dog handler who tackled a dangerous man who had doused himself in petrol and threatened to set himself on fire. The man had armed himself with a dagger and made repeated threats.
- Two Hillingdon PCs who entered a burning building with no fire safety equipment before searching around in pitch darkness to find and rescue an unconscious woman.

The public vote is open between Monday, 16 January and midnight on Monday, 6 February. The winner will be presented with their award at a ceremony on 10 February.
