A man and a woman are alleged to have attacked the officer in east London while he was deployed on “a pre-planned operation”.

A man and a woman have been charged with attempted murder after a plain clothes police officer was stabbed in an alleyway behind a pub.

Andrew Beadie, 20, from Basildon, and Janine Morris, 24, from east London, have also been charged with two counts of affray.

The pair are alleged to have attacked the officer near Bow Bells Pub in Bow, east London, on Tuesday while he was deployed on “a pre-planned operation”.

The officer, who sustained serious injuries, remains in hospital in a non life-threatening condition.

Beadie and Morris will appear before Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

A 17-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of attempted murder remains on bail until January, pending further enquiries.
