The Young Leader for Safer Cities Programme 2015

YLfSC -can you help?

The Young Leaders for Safer Cities (YLfSC) is delivered over a total of 100 hours of study for young people currently in year 9, from black and minority ethnic backgrounds. The programme is aimed at creating young leaders who will advocate change in local communities to reduce violence and antisocial behaviour. The programme aims to create greater trust and confidence between young people and the police. Students are recruited directly from their schools to participate in the programme which, this year we are seeking to recruit 100 young leaders and running the programme over a period of 11 weeks.

In a survey of parents, carers and schools: 91% noticed a positive change in the young person that was referred, 99% rated the course good – excellent, 100% rated tutors good – excellent

We are currently recruiting young people from the following areas:

  • Hackney
  • Islington
  • Haringey
  • Newham
  • Tower Hamlet and
